On December 12, 1857, R.A. Varnedoe, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $5250 to Cladia Varnedoe, Liberty County, for $250 “the following negro slaves, together with the future increase of the females viz. William, Cesar, Dinah, Paul, Augustus, Hargar, Mary, Jane, Sarah, Augusta, Malissa, Abnah, Racheal, Dianna, Charlotte, Susannah, Maria, and Solomon.” Witnessed by W.W. Winn and L.L. Varnedoe, Not. Pub. Recorded on December 21, 1858, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
