On August 17, 1847 in Bryan County, Joseph I. Smith confirmed his receipt of his share of his wife Liza Jane Smith’s share in the sale of “Negro woman Lucy and her child Andrew, which was sold at Publick sale on the third day of this month at Bryan Court House.” The money was turned over to Smith by Mrs. Eleanor E.C. Smith, guardian of Eliza Jane and Mary Ann Smith. Witnessed by Robert P. Cooper. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on February 7, 1849.

On February 5, 1849, W.J. Harn acknowledged receipt of his wife’s share of Lucy and Andrew’s sale . He identified his wife as Mary Ann Harn, formerly Mary Ann Smith, and said he had received $336.73 from Mrs. Eleanor E.C. Smith, guardian of Mary Ann Smith. Witnessed by Wm. U. Vanbrackel. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on February 7, 1849.
