On June 18, 1813, Elias Cassels, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $246.93 to Uriah Wilcox, teacher of Liberty County, “the following negro slave named Simon.” Witnessed by Thomas Miller. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 21, 1813.
