Bill of Sale (McIntosh/McIntosh)

On November 4, 1786, William McIntosh the Elder, Liberty County, sold to William McIntosh the Younger for 1160 pounds “those twenty nine Negroe Slaves named Gibb, Cohalon, Rose, Darmit [slip of the hand for Daniel?], Patty, Cillah, Dick, Belah [alt: Bellah], Sukey, Simon, London, Dye [alt: Die], Tinker, Sarah, Hickory, Dick, Simpson, Peggy, Hannah, James, Abraham, Binah, Sam, Nelly, Fergus, Simon, Fortune, London and Hannah, together with their future issue and increase.” Witnessed by A.D. Cuthbert, Alexander Forrester. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 3, 1787. 

[NOTE: On the pages prior to this, William McIntosh the Elder sold land to William McIntosh the Younger, which may be where these enslaved individuals lived. It was a 447-acre tract called Buck Head, bounded northeast by land of [first name left blank] Homer, southwest by Susannah ? Innis ? and vacant land, southeast by Angus McIntosh and vacant land; 350 acres in Sapelo district, bounded at the time of the original grant to John McIntosh on the northwest by William McIntosh the Elder and vacant land on all other sides; and 150 acres in the former Parish of Saint Andrew, bounded at the time of the original grant to Thomas Reddy on the north by William McIntosh the Elder and vacant land, west by land of George Threadcraft, south by vacant land, and east by land of Alexander McKenzie.]
