On April 30, 1827, William P. McConnell and Ann A. McConnell, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $3216.39 to Furman R. Whitwell “nineteen negro slaves named Old Joe, Hastings, Ben, Alabama Joe, Tenah, Hannah, Sylvia, Big Phoebe, Anthony, Big Judy and her two children Sam and Lucinda & Little Judy and her three children Billy, Hannah and Sally; Little Phoebe, Kate and Dinah…” Witnessed by Richard Fowler Axson. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 5, 1827.
