On April 28, 1855, Phereby Shuman, Bryan County, gifted to her son Wm. [William] H. Shuman “a negro girl named Delila & her future issue and increase which said girl I have also named for him in my will (said girl … is to remain in my possession during my life but the title to vest in him from the date of this instrument.” Witnessed by J.H. Bashler, E.H. Bacon (N.P.). Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on April 28, 1855.
