On March 18, 1854, John P. Mell, Cobb County, sold to James C. Hines, Chatham County, for $350 “the following property to wit a negro boy named Richard six years of age of dark complexion.” Witnessed by Henry H. ? Gobye ?. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on April 9, 1855.
