On May, 1853, in Savannah, Patrick Cody, Chatham County, sold to James Cody, Bryan County, for $500 “one certain negro female slave named Mary aged about twenty eight years together with her future issue and increase.” Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on June 8, 1853.
