On December 28, 1840, James A. Screven, Bryan County, sold to George Washington McAllister, same place, for $14,500 “the following named negro slaves, being thirty seven in number, that is to say, Coko [alt: Coco] about the age of thirty four years, Cyrus about fifty five years, Juno about forty five, Peter about fourteen, Ann about ten, Henry about five, Adam about twenty years, Sally (old) Mary about nineteen years, Charlotte about fifteen years, Hetty about forty years Mentor about eighteen years, Patrick about fifteen years, Laurens about ten years, Susan about seven years, Charly [alt: Charley, Charlie] about five years, Watty about three years, William an infant Kit aged about twenty five years, Harriet about twenty four years, Israel about four years, Kit an infant, Phillis [alt: Phyllis] aged about twenty eight years, March about eleven years, Elvira about six years, Jack about eighteen years, Rose about three years, Clarinda an infant, Sophy aged about thirty years, Hetty aged about two years, Daphna [alt: Daphne] about twenty six, Joseph about six years, Abraham about one year, Molly about twenty one years, Ellick [alt: Allick, Aleck] about six years, Eliza about three years, and John about one year.” Witnessed by Jno [John] B.
