On April 1849, John Baley, Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $501 to Robert Habersham & Son, Chatham County, for $501 “four negro Slaves namely, June a man aged twenty four years (24) Edward a man aged twenty five years (25) Harry a man aged twenty one years (21) and Isaac a man aged twenty years (20).” Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on April 20, 1849.
