On June 1, 1845, Charles A. Harden, Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note to Charles W. Rogers Senior, Bryan County, for $1200 a tract of land known as Milford in Bryan County, 530 acres, plus lot $129 in the 14th district of Cherokee County, 160 acres, and “also the following eight slaves to wit Jack, Samuel, Ovid, William, Jonas, Jenny, Rose and Leah.” Witnessed by Andrew A. Wells. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on June 21, 1845.
