On March 21, 1835, William P. Wilson, Chatham County, transferred his rights to a chattel mortgage “of ten negro slaves and their issue” to Joseph Bryan, Chatham County. The mortgage was from Beecroft Penney, Bryan County, for $1360 and was dated May 13, 1834. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on May 27, 1835.
