On February 16, 1836, Benjamin C. Maxwell, Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $773.50 to Ralph King, William King and Bayard E. Hand, doing business as R & W King & Co, “six slaves named Frank, Isabella, Minda, Davy, Hannah and Miriam, with the future issue and increase of the females.” Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on March 21, 1836.
