Enslaved People Named: Catharine, Sylvan, Mary
On May 22, 1832, Beecroft Penny [alt: Penney], Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $400 to James D. Huguenin, Chatham County, “three certain negro slaves named Catharine, Sylvan, and Mary.” On June 27, 1832, Huguenin transferred the mortgage to M.M. Prendergast “for value received.” Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on August 14, 1832.
