On April 8, 1829, Ferdinand C. Mann, Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $616.42 to the firm of R&W King, factors of Savannah, “the following named Negro Slaves, four in number, to wit, Bob, Chance, Robert and Grace.” Witnessed by Benjamin S. Lamb. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on April 20, 1829.
