Enslaved People Named: Susey

On October 7, 1811, Nathaniel Law, planter of Liberty County, gifted to his daughter Harriet Spry Law, via her trustee Joseph Jones, planter of Liberty County, “the following two Negroes named Susey [or Surcy] (a young wench) and Tenah (a child).” Witnessed by James Dunwody. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on December 6, 1811.  

Written on the deed was “(Note) See Book ? folio 393 for release from Mrs. Hariett Handley to Capt Jos. Jones.”
