On April 23, 1807, Paul Grimball, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $7000 to Thomas Hornby, “the following negroes viz John, Amey, Lenvill, Rachel, April, Flora, Daniel, Delphia, Cumba, Billy, Sam, Ben, Sundy [alt: Sunday or Sandy], Ansell, Biner [alt: Binah], Stephen, Ceasure [alt: Caesar], Kit, Rose and Hagar, with the future increase of such as are females.” Witnessed by Jos. Jones, Jos. Law. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 13, 1809.
