On May 28, 1805, Elijah Lewis, Liberty County, gifted to his nephew Samuel Lewis, merchant of Liberty County, “four negroes, slaves named Betty, Pender [alt: Penda], Phiby [alt: Phoebe], wenches, and Mike a boy…” Witnessed by Thomas Baker Jr., Benjamin B. Winn. Probated by Thomas Baker Jr on March 6, 1809. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 1, 1809.
