Enslaved People Named: Isaac

On May 5, 1808, Liberty County Sheriff Josiah Wilson sold to Moses Way for $262 “a negro fellow named Isaac the property of the said Charles Dicks.” Wilson had seized Isaac from Dicks based on a writ of fieri facias obtained by virtue of a suit against Dicks by W & D Robarts, Andrew Rodes [alt: Rhodes] and others in the Liberty County and Bryan County Superior Courts. He put Isaac up for public auction at the Riceboro courthouse on the third day of May and Way was the highest bidder. Witnessed by John Peacock Sr. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 1, 1809.
