On March 12, 1807, Oliver Stevens, planter of Liberty County used as collateral on a promissory note for $1000 to Cyrus Guildersleeve, clergyman of Liberty County, “all those eight Negroes, to wit, Ben, Jacob, Major, Lydia, Chloe, Molly, Tenah and Phebe [alt: Phoebe].” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 12, 1807.
