Enslaved People Named: Cuffy, Jack, Saul, Tall, Lucy [or Levicy], Pompy [alt: Pompey], Duke, Sandy, Sam, June, Aaron, Billy, Maria, Tom, Daniel, Peg, Mary, Cato, Little Betty

On March 5, 1805, James White, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $5500 to John P. Williamson, factor in Savannah, “the following Negro slaves, namely Cuffy, Jack, Saul, Tall, Lucy [or Levicy], Pompy [alt: Pompey], Duke, Sandy, Sam and ten other Negroe Slaves namely June, Aaron, Billy, Maria, Tom, Daniel, Peg, Mary, Cato, & Little Betty – fourteen male & five females.” Witnessed by John G. Cowling, William Thamson (apparently in Chatham County). Recorded in Chatham County Book Z folio 235 on September 14, 1805. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on on January 7, 1806.
