Enslaved Persons Named: Nanny, Isaac, Scipio, Dembo
On January 10, 1792, Margaret Goulding [alt: Golding], widow of Liberty County, gifted to her “loving children, Thomas Goulding and Mary Goulding of the State and county aforesaid, minors” “the following negroes viz. Wench Nanny and her two children Isaac and Scipio, and fellow Dembo, also, six head of black cattle and two horses.” She appointed her “two brothers and trusty friends” John Stacy and James Stacy, planters of Liberty County, as the trustees for her children. Thomas Goulding was to receive his share either upon his marriage or turning 21, and Mary Goulding upon her marriage or turning 18. Witnessed by Peter Winn, James Witherspoon. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 2, 1792.
