Enslaved Persons Named: Unnamed
On May 29, 1790, James Belcher, Liberty County, gifted to his 3-year-old son James Pryce Belcher “the half part of all Negroe Slaves, the issue of such Slaves, Lands and Tenements, Stock, household furniture and goods, and all my estate, rights, title interest, property, claim and demand in and thereunto…to the premises mentioned or contained” in his June 28, 1787 marriage settlement with his wife Grace Belcher, formerly Grace Carr, with William Stephens as her trustee, which had agreed that 1/2 of the estate was to be his, and one half hers. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on August 22, 1791.
