Enslaved Persons Named: Ben, Will, Billy, Dick, Peter, Sucky, Iris

On July 2, 1791, in Chatham County, Alexander McIver, Liberty County, sold to John McIver, merchant of Chatham County, for 220 pounds sterling five Negroe Men and two Negroe Women viz. Two Negroe Men, Ben and Will, about twenty years of age, one Negroe Man, Billy, about thirty years of age, one Mulatto man named Dick about Twenty years of age, one Negroe man named Peter about forty years of age, Two Negroe Women Sucky and Iris, both about forty years of age, to have and to hold the said Negroes named Ben, Will, Billy, Dick, Peter, Sucky and Iris together with their future increase…” Witnessed by David Robinson, Peter Robsinson, David Reid. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 13, 1791.
