On October 6, 1792, Liberty County Sheriff Henry Wood sold to John Couper for 264 pounds sterling “the following Negroe Slaves, to wit Harry, Sinah and their two children Neger and Nancy, Fanny and her six children Nanny Tenar [alt: Tenah], Elvira July Solomon and Cloe, Pluto Dick and Abram, Hannah and her two children Mingo and Lizy [alt: Lizzy], Pompey Sarah and their child Paul, making in the whole twenty Negroes.” Sheriff Wood had seized them from Hannah Girardeau and put them up for public auction based on a writ of fieri facias from an action against her by Messrs Couper and Hamilton. Witnessed by William Peacock, William Peacock Junior. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 8, 1792.
On October 30, 1792, John Couper, merchant of Liberty County, sold to John Bohun Girardeau, planter of Liberty County, for 300 pounds sterling “all those Negro Slaves named Abraham, Harry, Dick, Pompy, Sinah, Pluto, Sary, Paul, Fanny and her six children Nanny, Tena, Elvira, July, Solomon and Rose, Hannah and her two children Mingo and Lizy Nancy and her child Neger.” Witnessed by John Graves, Alexander Forrester. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 8, 1792.
