Deed of Gift (Lambright/Lambright)

Enslaved Persons Named: Cato, Sylvia, Harry, Lucy, Sarah, Syrus [alt: Cyrus], Jenny, Toney

On July 10, 1780, John Lambright, planter of South Carolina, transferred to John Robarts and Thomas Stevens, planters of Georgia, in trust for his wife Margaret Lambright and her heirs, “my fifth part of John Stevens’s Estate (her former husband of the state of Georgia) which consisted of eight negroes viz. Cato, Sylvia, Harry, Lucy, Sarah, Syrus [alt: Cyrus], Jenny and Toney,” as well as assorted household items. Witnessed by James Hamilton Senior, William Lambright. On November 6, 1790, in Beaufort, South Carolina, William Lambright appeared before a Justice of the Peace to swear that he saw John Lambright sign the above deed along with James Hamilton Senior. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on January 17, 1790.
