Enslaved Persons Named: Syke, Warrick, Hannah

On April 7, 1788, Liberty County Sheriff John Dollar sold to John Lawson Senior, of Sunbury, Liberty County, for 151 pounds sterling “Syke a tall middle aged fellow, Warrick a fellow middle aged and Hannah a young wench.” Dollar had seized them from David Duncan after a court judgment against Duncan was obtained by James Wood for 152 pounds six shillings, and he sold them at public auction, with Lawson being the highest bidder. Witnessed by Ad. [Adam] Alexander. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 11, 1788.
