On September 26, 1778, Charles Watts, of St. John’s Parish in Georgia [now Liberty County], sold a 200-acre tract of land on Bermuda Island [now Colonel’s Island] to Benjamin Andrew in return for “one Negro Man already delivered to me…and one Negro Boy to be…delivered to me.” The land had originally been granted to John Pearson, and was bounded north by land formerly belonging to John Van ? Beaverhoudt ? And east by a creek and the marsh between Midway and Newport Rivers. Witnessed by Henry Reed. Recorded on October 3, 1778.
