On May 26, 1830, Thomas G. Way, planter, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $115.34 to Uriah Wilcox, trader, Liberty County, “a certain female slave named Nanny, & her two children Jenny & Patty.” Witnessed by R.S. Leonard. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 27, 1830. [NOTE: This mortgaged was marked as satisfied as of April 22, 1844, by Oliver Stevens, administrator of Uriah Wilcox’s estate. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 23, 1844.]
