On February 6, 1830, Joseph S. Baisden, of Liberty County, a member of the firm of Law & Baisden, “merchants, trading and doing business in Camden County,” used as collateral on promissory notes totalling 1135.25 to Ralph & William King, merchants, “the following negro slaves, to wit, Moses aged about twenty two years, Essimore aged about twenty four years, and Jack aged about sixteen years.” Witnessed by John N (or H) Clark. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 5, 1830.
