On April 22, 1828, James Holmes and Adam T. Holmes used as collateral  on a promissory note of $1700 to the Planters Bank of the State of Georgia “the following negro slaves , to wit, Milly, Hagar, Phillis [alt: Phyllis], Nancy, Amelia, Fanny, Louisa Charlotte, Lettuce, Jacob, Davy and Quashoba. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 6, 1828.
