Estate Settlement (Hart/Screven)

Enslaved Persons Named: Marmotte, Phillis [alt: Phyllis], Frank, Judy, Lucy, Doll, John, Friday, Sally

On April 23, 1827, Smith Hart acknowledged receipt from C.O. Screven of “the portion of negroes I am entitled to in the division of the estate of Charles Odingsell; viz, Marmotte, Phillis [alt: Phyllis], Frank, Judy, Lucy, Doll, John, Friday & their increase Sally, in all nine negroes, and having satisfactorily accounted to me for annual appropriations of crops since the said interest was under his management.” Hart bound himself to pay his proportion any of debts from the estate. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 30, 1827.
