On March 16, 1826, Moses Way used as collateral for a promissory note of $800 to Uriah Wilcox, both of them of Liberty County, “a certain male slave named Tom & a certain tract of land, situate in said County, on which I the said Way now reside, containing one hundred ninety eight & a half acres, more or less, bounded on the southeast by the main road leading from Savannah to Riceborough & bounded on all other sides by lands at present belonging to the Estate John Lambert, Wm. Spencer, John S. Quarterman & the Estate of James Wilson…” Witnessed by W.B. Fleming. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 21, 1826.
