Enslaved Persons Named: Judah, Murriah, John

Richard S. Baker, representing the estate of Alex’r [Alexander] Martin, deceased, received an order from the Liberty County Court of Ordinary on December 1, 1823, allowing him to sell “five slaves belonging to the Estate aforesaid for the benefit of the heirs and creditors. On April 6, 1824, he put up for public auction at the Courthouse “Judah, Murriah, and John, and sold them to John Martin of Liberty County for $650, as the highest bid. Witnessed by Wm. [William] Robarts and J.W. Robarts. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 6, 1824.
