In 1822, Ann A. Dicks and William P. McConnell, “practitioner of physic,” entered into a marriage contract, with Joseph Law Sen. and James Lambright Equuire as her trustees, all of Liberty County. Ann Dicks was “entited to a considerable personal estatae in the County aforesaid, consisting of the following fifteen negro slaves, namely, Bob, Sandy, Sary, Quamino, Nan, Miley, Nelly, Flora, John, Charles, Binah, Diana, Jenny, Young Sandy, and Eve,” which they agreed should be put into trust for her. Witnessed by J.A. Maxwell, John S. Law Sen., who probated the contract on April 8, 1823. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 21, 1823. [NOTE: The day and month of the contract was not entered.]
