On November 14, 1822, Benjamin Mell, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $415.81 to Uriah Wilcox, attorney for Clarissa Hoadley, of Liberty County, “all his claim, right, & title to a certain male slave named Isaac & two female slaves named Affy & Little Judy.” Witnessed by John McGowen. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on December 2, 1822.
