Enslaved Persons Named: Lilly, Willoby, John

On November 17, 1836, Mary Jones gave to her son Moses L. Jones “all my right interest and property in and to the following lands and negroes to be his property and his heirs forever.” The land was said to be a tract situated in McIntosh County on which Mary Jones had lived for many years, bounded north by land she had deeded to her son William Jones, west by land belonging to Alfred Iverson, south by land belonging to Mary Jones surveyed by John Orme in 1817, and on all other sides by vacant land. Included was also a tract of land in McIntosh County surveyed by John Orme for her late husband Samuel Jones containing 200 acres, bounded on all sides by vacant land. She also gave to Moses L. Jones “all my right interest and property in and to the four following Slaves To wit Lilly and her three children Willoby [alt: Willowby], John and [name obscured]. Witnessed by Olivia Axson, Nathaniel Varnedoe. Recorded on Liberty County Superior Court on January 25, 1837.
