Enslaved Persons Named: Quaminer, Mag, Robert, Peter

In the December term of the Liberty County Superior Court, a judgement was made against Joseph F. McGowen that resulted in an execution of Fiere Facias being issued. Thus Sheriff Edwin H. Bacon levied the executions on “the following named negro slaves to wit Quaminer [alt: Quarmino], Peter, Mag, Robert, and a bay horse. They were all advertised for sale at the Courthouse in Riceboro on Tuesday, April 1, 1834. F.D. Petit De Villers was the highest bidder at $321. Witnessed by WM. J. Way, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 3, 1834. In a subsequent deed, Jos. F. McGowen stated that he had hired Quaminer, Peter, Mag and Robert for $200 for one years. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 3, 1834.
