Enslaved Persons Named: Minda, John, Cato, Adam, Lucy

On December 6, 1831, James Law, Sheriff of Liberty County, sold to Richard F. Baker for $51 “five negroes, to wit, Minda, and her four children, John, Cato, Adam and Lucy, levied on by me as the property of George Kershaw, by virtue of an execution issues by Nathaniel Martin, Tax Collector” for 1830. Law had put the five enslaved people up for sale at the Courthouse, and Baker was the highest bidder. Witnessed by Jos. Andrews, J.P., and recorded on January 14, 1832 by E. Baker, Clerk.
