On March 15, 1842, Abial Winn used as collateral on a promissory note of $6300 to George W. Anderson & Brother, merchants in Savannah, “the following named negro slaves to wit, Sam, Peggy, Cretia, Nelly, Isaac, Nanny [or Nancy], Maria, John, Amy, Mary, Affee Charlotte Harriet Tenah Tony, Nancy [or Nanny], York, Doll, Prince, old Tenah George & David,” along with a tract of land in Liberty County containing 1177 acres, bounded north by land of William S. Baker & Susan Thompson, east by land of Mrs. Susan Thompson, Oliver Stevens, and Edward J. Delegal, south by land of George W. Dunham and William P. McConnell, and west by land of Wm. P. McConnell and B.B. King. [NOTE: Written on this deed was: “Satisfied and Cancelled Savannah 24 Feby 1853. G.W. Anderson & Brother. Recorded this 1st March 1853. S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C.” Witnessed by John Love Lowrie, John E. Mann, Not. Pub. Recorded on March 26, 1842, by E. Way, Clerk.
