Comments: The division was a two-stage process. First the below-named people were divided into two lots to be divided between the two estates:
1 — estate of Davis Carter [apparently not dealt with in this document]
2 — estate of Phoebe Carter

Then Lot #2, belonging to estate of Phoebe Carter, was subdivided into two lots. Lot #1, consisting of Jim (described as a boy), was drawn by Miss Elizabeth Lanchester, said to be “of full age.” Lot #2, consisting of Chloe (described as a girl) and Tom (described as a boy) was drawn by “the minor John Carter,” whose guardian was said to be Mr. John Hathaway. Elizabeth Lanchester and John Carter were said to be siblings.
