Enslaved Persons Named: Ben, Jude, Lindy
On November 5, 1839, in a deed titled “Administrators Sales,” Solomon Parker, administrator, acknowledged receipt of $1270 from Charlton Hines, “for one male Slave named Ben & one female Slave named Jude,” “purchased by him this day, & legally sold as the property of the Estate of William H. Parker Sen’r [Senior] deceased.” Signed in presence of Wm. [William] Smith Jun’r [Junior] J.P. Below the deed was written “I do hereby transfer all of my right title claim interest benefit or behoof to the within named Negroes Ben & Jude, to Mr. Solomon Parker to his Heirs and assigns forever this 5th November 1839.” Signed also in presence of Wm. Smith Jun’r J.P. Recorded on November 26, 1839, by E. Way, Clerk.
On same page: “Georgia, Liberty County } Administrators Sales, Hinesville, 5 November 1839. Received of Charlton Hines Esquire three hundred dollars in full for a Female Slave named Lindy purchased by him this day and legally sold as the property of the Estate of William H. Parker deceased. Witness my head & seal the date above written [signed] Solomon Parker, Admo’r. In presence of Wm. Smith Jr J.P. I do hereby transfer all of my right title claim interest benefit or behoof to the written named Negro Slave Lindy to Mrs. Anna Susannah Parker to her & her Heirs forever this 5th November 1839. [signed] Charlton Hines. In presence of Wm. Smith Jr J.P.” Recorded on November 26, 1839, by E. Way, Clerk.
