On April 1, 1839, Daniel Heidt, Liberty County, a merchant of Walthourville, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2700 to Clarissa Cooper “the following eight named negro slaves, together with the future issue & increase of the females, to wit, Scipio Phebe [alt: Phoebe] Philender Tenah Bob Martha Dick & Grace & also all the merchandise in the store of the said Daniel Heidt at Walthourville.” Witnessed by Geo. [George] W. Walthour, B. Griffin, T.K. Dunham. Recorded on May 30, 1839, by E. Way, Clerk.
