On July 14, 1847, John B. Barnard, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $8600 to George W. Anderson and John W. Anderson “factors, copartners, under the name and firm of George W. Anderson & Brother at the Planters Bank of the state of Georgia in Savannah,” “the following negro slaves to wit, Toney, Rachael, Louisa, June, Molly, Young June, Rose, Mitchell, Jim, Daniel Henry, Die, Ben, Sary, Rosena, Elsy, Nelly, Gabriel Mingo Fortune, Ally [possibly supposed to be Abby or Affy], Mary, Ta???, Dinah, Leah, Eve, Charity, Chloe, Sarah, Elizabeth, Daphne, Smith, Jennette, Will, Little Eve Charlotte, Elvira [seen as Elevia elsewhere] Hetty, thirty eight in number…” Witnessed by Wm. [William] Morell Not. Pub. Recorded on July 21, 1847, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Before me a notary public for Chatham County personally came John W. Anderson the authorized former copartner of Geo. W. Anderson & Brother for settling the business of that firm and entered satisfaction in full of the within mortgage. Savannah April 14, 1859. G.W.
