Enslaved Persons Named: Middy, Moses, Clarissa

On June 1, 1847, William Maxwell and Elizabeth J. Maxwell, husband and wife, of Liberty County, sold to John Jones of Liberty County for $900 “the following property to wit a negro woman named Middy aged 25 years, Moses son of Middy aged 4 years, Clarissa infant daughter of Middy aged 9 months, which negro slaves we warrant to be sound in body and mind.” Witnessed by Abiel Winn, Joseph Jackson. Probated by Joseph Jackson on June 2, 1847. Recorded on June 5, 1847, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
