On December 1, 1846, Benjamin W. Allen, Liberty County, used as colalteral on a promissory note of $3150 to James F. Baker, Liberty County, “the following negro slaves with the issue of the females to wit Adam Will Mingo, Minda Lucy, Mariah, Sally Rose, Jinny and Charles.” [NOTE: Written on this deed was “This is to certify that I as the agent of J.F. Baker have released the two boys Adam and Mingo from the mortgage given the said James F. Baker by Benj. W. Allen. Decr 17 1849. [Signed] Geo. [George] W. Walthour agt, James F. Baker.”] Witnessed by B.C. Maxwell, S.A. Fraser, J.I.C. Recorded on February 4, 1847, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
