On November 11, 1845, Joseph Way, Liberty County, gifted to his daughter Sarah Jane Way “a certain negro woman slave named Phebe [alt: Phoebe] about twenty years of age together with the future issue and increase of the said negro negro named Phebe…” Witnessed by Mary C. Way, E. Way. Probated by E. Way on June 1, 1846. Recorded on June 3, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
