Enslaved Persons Named: Mariah, Will, Charity
On January 3, 1846, Jackson Bird, of Bryan County, gifted to his wife Cornelia Bird, through her trustees Simeon S. Moody and Addison Way, of Liberty County, “three certain negro slaves to wit Mariah Will and Charity…” Jackson Bird retained, however, management and control of them. Witnessed by Jacob Thiess, J.S. Bradwell, Clk, Supr. Court. Recorded on February 14, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clk. [NOTE: According to Ancestry research, Cornelia Bird was Simeon S. Moody’s stepdaughter through her mother Elizabeth Bacon Way Moody and her first husband, Moses W. Way.]
