On July 15, 1845, Wm. [William] T.E. Baker used as collateral on a promissory note of $200 to Wm. J. Way & Wm. King, “copartners and trading under the firm of Way and King facors and commission merchants in the city of Savannah” “two certain negro slaves, to wit, Harriet and her child Augustus…” Witnessed by J.S. Bradwell, Clk, and C. Hines, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on August 15, 1845, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied 6 April 1846. W.J. Way. Recorded this 8th April 1846. J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.”]
