Enslaved Persons Named: Prince, Simon, Peggy
On June 21, 1845, William Hughes, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $540 to Doctor Charles W. Rogers of Bryan County “three negro slaves, one named Prince about thirty five years of age, one named Simon about twenty six years of age, and the other named Peggy, about thirty three years…” Witnessed by W. Hughes, [other name could be read several ways]. Recorded on June 23, 1845, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
